The most exciting day

Today is one of the most exciting days in my entire life. I am going to vote for Barack Obama for the office of President of the United States. I honestly did not think I would live to see this day in my lifetime. I am confident that Obama will go down as one of the best and brightest ever to run for president of the United States. I will follo-up this post after I vote and again after Obama wins the Presidency.

Flowers are ugly

One of my favorite co-workers is leaving tomorrow. It is her last day at work, but we are going to have a happy hour which makes up for it :) She passed along an interesting story to me that made me wonder: do people even think anymore??

Our office manager helped another co-worker with his iPhone and to say thanks he bought her some flowers. That happened a couple of days ago. I would see the flowers each morning as I walked in on the way to my office. A few days ago I noticed the flowers were gone. I didn’t think much of it, I figured she took them home or something.

Fast Forward to today. I am chatting with a friend of mine and she tells me the story of the disapearring flowers. Turns out that another co-worker of ours decided to throw the flowers away. Why, you may ask? Apparently she thought they were ‘ugly’ and ‘unprofessional’. So, her answer was to throw out the flowers without even talking to the flowers owner. I was shocked by this.

Is this normal behavior? I have talked to a few people about it and they all agree that the ‘flower bandit’ was way out of line for this. What do you think?

Feed Fixed

Ben’s feed has been down for over a week now. I thought maybe he had stopped writing or something. Then I went to the site to check and it was updated?? I didn’t know what the hell was going on?? So, i decided to tell him. Turns out Feedburner had not been updated so it was pointing to his old blog and not able to update the feed anymore. Crisis has been averted. I can now resume normal blog reading.

Google Chrome

Do we really need another browser? As long as it’s not Internet Explorer I say sure, why not? It is going to be based on Webkit so it will be standards compliant and I am sure it will offer many built-in features for Google products I already use. I am looking forward to giving it a try tomorrow. It is supposed to be available on Tuesday here. Kottke did a nice review of the talk going back to 2001 about the Google Browser.

Still Hurtin’

My back is feeling better, but still hurts. I have been taking Ibuprofen and using a heating pad to alleviate some of the pain. I hope this clears up soon and allows me to resume normal operating procedues.

Mad Men

Not sure how many of you watch Mad Men, but the show is awesome. It is probably my favorite show since The Wire went off the air. It did take me a while to get into it, maybe because it is a period piece, but now I look forward to new episodes each week. I work at a social media company and like Mad Men, so I think this story is right up my alley. If only more companies would recognize the benefits rather fight the social aspects of the web.

My achin’ back

I was walking down the stairs this morning to my car and my back started convulsing. I have had back problems since I was in High School and I seem to get them every 4-5 months now. I am in extreme pain as I sit in my office and type this out. If you know a good chiropractor in Atlanta, let me know.

UPDATE

My back is still killing me. I have taken some ibuprofen and Fiornal, but what I probably need is time.

This movie is a complete waste of time. I am only half way through it right now and I do not even know if I should finish it. I have not seen a movie this bad in quite a while. It is trying to be clever with the time cut backs, they should ask Memento how this is supposed to work.
